4 June, Wed (Christchurch)

Quickly wake up to start my cultural tour round Christchurch city. First stop is the Botanical garden. Pity that I’m here in winter. Bet the whole garden will be filled with many colourful flowers in summer. I can only imagine. Saw some people boating around the garden too. Never mind, I shall enjoy a cup of latte at the café then. Yes I need some caffeine to keep me awake in such cold sleep weather. There are few senior citizens there catching up with each other too. Hop over to the Museum next to the garden. Had some exhibits on Mauri and the explanation on some of their artifact.

Next stop is the Arts Centre, a Gothic architecture that used to be the University of Cantebury. I cannot stop taking photos. It’s enough to quench my thirst for Europe architecture for the meantime. It makes me realized how much talent God has blessed people since then. And it’s not just within the Arts Centre. Most of the architectures in Christchurch are really impressive. Let the pictures tell you more.

The tour at the Cathedral was very enriching too. The materials used to build the church were specially transport from another part of New Zealand. And there’s also influence of the Mauri’s art and culture in the architecture.

Afternoon was my adventure out of town. Took a local bus out to another neighbourhood to check out the factory outlet. But it was a disappointment. When I was waiting for the returning bus at the secluded bus stop, the sky was dark, weather was chilly and the bus took more than half hour to come! It was the praising that keep me company all the way, helping me to forget about my worries and hunger.
